«ICE MECHANICS» is an annual international Winter Course. It was established in 2015 at School of Engineering (FEFU) as a part of activities accomplished by the International Scientific and Educational Center ”Arctic” (ISEC “ARCTIC”). The Far East of Russia is the largest region for the program of Arctic development in the coming decades. The purpose of the course is as follows: - to obtain new knowledge on marine ice engineering with the purpose of the offshore exploring of the Arctic and the Far East; - to improve the representation of sea ice properties in the engineering tasks for the Arctic and the Sea of Okhotsk shelf and to involve students into the research activities in this area; - to develop informational platforms for communications between domestic and foreign professionals;...
Participants of the Ice Mechanics School came to the Far Eastern Federal University to have a comprehensive study of the sea ice. 30 undergraduate and graduate students and young researchers have come to the ice of the Novik Bay of Russky Island where for several days they have conducted field experiments with natural material and took samples for laboratory testing. The Second Ice Mechanics School is a part of the Arctic Project implemented in the framework of the FEFU Competitiveness Enhancement Program that is being supported by the 5top100 Project, a project developed to stimulate emergence of the new advanced university leaders in Russia by 2020: universities that would have effective management structures and a strong international academic reputations, and that would be capable of...

Description of the "Ice Effect" and the freezing properties of some of the Ice Climber's moves. **EDIT: I was wrong about the Freeze effect being RNG based, Kyu Puff informed me that it actually happens 100% of the time once the opponent is over the threshold. It's actually a knockback threshold, meaning if the ice move deals over 52.5 kb, it will always trigger the freeze effect.** Blizzard Equation: Min. Freeze % = 0.32(Weight+100) Ice Block Equation: Min. Freeze % = 0.76(Weight+100) SmashWiki List of Weight Values: http://www.ssbwiki.com/weight --- Kyu Puff on Twitter: https://twitter.com/kyu_puff Derf on Twitter: https://twitter.com/Eskimo_Derf

This is my Game Jam entry for the Game Jam over at Make Games SA called Sector I.C.E. In this video I am testing the basic game mechanics, making sure there are no major issues and the basic game flow works. I have started polishing some of the assets, but the sounds are still very much placeholder.
In this video Jane describes her research into the fundamental mechanics of ice and snow, and how they can be applied to controlling gripping and slipping. Find out more: Dr Jane Blackford, School of Engineering: http://eng.ed.ac.uk/about/people/dr-jane-r-blackford
The second world is ice themed and therefore we introduce some new mechanics - moving and scaling obsticles and falling icicles.
